Wokingham Adult and Community Learning

Community learning courses offer a range of skills for learning and life.

You can:

  • Improve your employability skills
  • Increase your volunteering opportunities
  • Take up a new interest
  • Improve your confidence and wellbeing

Accredited English and Maths courses are free. Other courses are free to those claiming income support or job seeking benefits. Concessionary rates are available to those claiming Working Tax Credits or people referred by a Wokingham support service. For other learners, the courses will have a fee.

You need to be over 19 years old (as of 31st August 2017) and been a citizen of the EEA and have been resident in the EEA for at least 3 years. (There are a number of exemptions - please contact us to check your eligibility).

Our courses include Helping your Child with English or Maths, Safety Online, Introductory courses in employment in, Childcare, Catering and being a Teaching Assistant and Introduction to English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

Cost details

Free subsidized spaces are available to those claiming income support or job seeking support. Concessionary rates are discretionary and may be available for carers, care leavers, those claiming Working Tax Credit or people referred by a Wokingham support service (e.g. Social Care). Please talk to us to see if you are eligible.

Eligibility Criteria

You are eligible to participate in one of our courses if you are:

  • 19 or older on 31st August 2017

  • AND A citizen of a country within the European Economic Area (EEA) (including Switzerland) or have Right of Abode in the UK (e.g.Refugee or Asylum Seeker status)

  • AND Have been an EEA resident for at least the previous three years.

  • Other individuals may be eligible, please contact the Adult Learning Team for more information.
