Sarah Roberts - Childminding service

I provide a fun and relaxed environment, treating each child as a individual, and care for them alongside my own two children who are 21 and 19

Every day I plan a different activity for us to do, and these can range from arts and crafts, cooking, story time at the library, or messy play. I believe that spending time outdoors is important to children so we visit our local woods, lake and nature reserve. I also let the children decide together what they would like to do, and they often enjoy visiting soft play centres or going out! We also play outside in my enclosed garden, which has a sandpit, slides, playhouse and lots of other toys.

Parents will receive feedback daily, so that they know what we have been doing, what the children have eaten, and what achievments have been made! I also attend local toddler groups, and meet with other childminders so that the children I care for can play with other children and in different places, and experience new things. I have done Makaton training, and Level 2 Food Safety.

Local Offer

Local Offer - Support available for children and young people with additional needs

Local Offer Description

Local Offer last reviewed 01/09/2021

1. How does the childminder identify children with additional needs or SEND ?

Children who attend my setting are observed in line with the EYFS guidelines using trackers.

I also do a 2 years developmental check which is shared with parents, allowing discussion for any concerns they or i may have with regards to their child's development.

If a parent or myself has concerns about a child I will work closely with them to make a plan which will include the early years team and professional help.

2. How will I be informed / included about the ways in which my child is being supported ?

Each day i complete a diary which also the parents are able to complete. I am happy to arrange meetings with parents or professionals to ensure the child is supported at all times.

3. How will the childminder adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child?s needs ?

I include all children in my setting and will adapt an activities to every child's needs.

4. What additional support does the childminder provide for children with additional needs or SEND ?

I will attended training courses and seek professional help so i can include all children in my setting.

5. How will the childminder monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this ?

I use the EYFS tracker for each child and i review each child to see what early learning stage the child is at. This tracker is shared with parents with progress and concerns highlighted. I will work with other settings the child is attending to provided the care for the child.

6. How does the childminder ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips ?

I risk assess each outing or trip and would ensure that it is inclusive for all children this may mean that things may be slightly adapted to meet all the children's needs.

7. How accessible is the childminder?s home for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users ?

My home is not wheelchair accessible due to it having a step into the house. I am willing to assist children up the step if they have a mobility issue.

8. How will the childminder contribute to my child?s transition to a new setting or school ?

To make each child's transition into nursery/school i will work with the children on being "school ready" ie children are able to put coat, shoes on by themselves also they are able to take themselves to toilet, wash and dry hands.

I will look at books talk about nursery/school talk about routines etc

I will also work with the nursery/School so the transition is smooth i will also pass on the childs learning journal

9. How does the childminder assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation ?

I will send out questionnaires for the parents to fill in and will address any issues which are raised.

I review my polices and procedures each year.

10. What should I do if I am considering registering for a place with this childminder ?

Call my for an appointment to meet myself and children in my setting. I will have a chat about my provision and you will be able to ask any questions. You will also be able to have a look around. I will give you paperwork about my setting for you to read through at home. If your interested in a space we can make another appointment to do contract polices and procedures.

11. What arrangements does the childminder have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints ?

I speak to my parents each morning and afternoon. I send questionnaires home for parents to give me feed back on how i can improve my setting.

I have a comments book which the parents are able to write in or I will write in if I receive a verbal comment.
