ASSIST - Autism Specific Workshops

ASSIST offer a variety of autism specific workshops to parents, carers, practitioners and anyone with an interest in autism.  There is a charge for attending. Please ask for current workshop dates and information or download the latest flyer. The workshops are suitable for adult learning.

It is important that delegates have a basic understanding and knowledge of autism, either through their own experience or by having attended autism awareness training previously.  ‘What is’ autism is covered in depth in the Autism Awareness workshop only.

  • Autism Awareness
  • Supporting autistic individuals to understand and self-manage emotions and feelings – including anger
  • A positive, systematic approach to finding solutions – autism focused
  • Drawing whilst talking! A practical intervention suitable to use with many autistic people
  • Understanding and writing social/visual scripts - a practical intervention which may be beneficial for autistic people
  • Sexual development and puberty – autism focused
  • Supporting siblings of autistic people
  • Online safety - with an autism perspective

Daytime workshops are offered face to face at the Woodley Airfield Centre, RG5 4UX.  Free parking and refreshments are available.

Evening workshops are usually online via Microsoft Teams’
