My name is Angela and I live in Wokingham. I first became a childminder in 2004.
Young children need caring adults to form an emotional attachment to help them feel secure.
Here we love the great outdoors. I have chickens, 2 very child friendly dogs & a pony. The children love to help care for animals & playing on the wide variety of outdoor toys. In the summer we have a vegetable patch & the children love to see things grow. We eat; make jam or cakes from the things we harvest. The playroom is designated to the young children. Art, cooking, singing, music, puzzles, reading area, are just a few of the things we offer here. Visiting parks & farms to venturing into nearby woodland are on offer most days.
I have a diploma, NNEB and 14 years of experience as a registered child-minder. I was also a private nanny for 10 years and have references. I've Completed many courses offered by pacey to help further knowledge in caring young children.
As a registered childminder I will provide your child with a safe, caring, and most of all fun environment, meeting the requirements set out in the Department for Education’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. The EYFS sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.
I will provide your child with activities both indoors and outdoors that support the key learning areas. These are; personal, social and emotional development, physical development, communication and language, literacy, mathematics, understanding of the world and expressive arts and design. These will be met through both routine and spontaneous activities.
Most importantly I would like your child to feel at home whilst in my care, and I will do everything possible to make them feel at ease and happy.

1. How does the childminder identify children with additional needs or SEND ?
2. How will I be informed / included about the ways in which my child is being supported ?
- Information about a child’s progress is shared with parents/ carers on a regular basis.
- Parents/ carers can see their child’s learning journey at any time and are encouraged to contribute to their child’s learning through sharing activities and experiences from home.
- Where appropriate, an Individual Education Plan will be drawn up in consultation with the parents and this will be reviewed together at regular intervals.
3. How will the childminder adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child?s needs ?
- The curriculum is planned to meet every child’s individual needs, through resources being freely accessible to children with time given to ensure children can participate at their own level and at their own pace.
- Knowledge of each child ensures that resources and activities support individual learning styles and interests.
- All children are able to access the garden to give opportunities to experience the world outdoors, including physical and sensory activities
- All children are taken on outings and trips to offer a wide range of experiences.
4. What additional support does the childminder provide for children with additional needs or SEND ?
- Support from the Local Authority, including advice and guidance from the Inclusion Advisor and training related to supporting children with additional needs or SEND
- Opportunities to attend the Speech and Language drop- in
- Access support from the local children’s centre
- Specialised resources available from the toy library
5. How will the childminder monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this ?
- Regular observations are carried as part of everyday practice and these are shared with parents/ carers
- Children with additional needs will have an IEP which will be monitored every 8-10 weeks to ensure that appropriate strategies and support are in place to meet the child’s needs.
6. How does the childminder ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips ?
- Day trips are organised in advance so that appropriate arrangements can be made with the venue if necessary.
- Other outings such as trips to the park, soft play centres etc will take place on a regular basis.
7. How accessible is the childminder?s home for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users ?
- The house has a side entrance which is accessible for children with mobility difficulties or wheelchair users, as it has no step.
- The same entrance can be used to access the garden.
- The house has a downstairs bathroom
8. How will the childminder contribute to my child?s transition to a new setting or school ?
- Visits to the new setting or school can be arranged prior to starting
- Information regarding developmental progress and successful support strategies will be shared with the new school/ setting. A transition report can be passed to the new setting in line with information sharing protocols.
- A photograph book can be made to share with the child, with pictures of their new school/ setting, teacher etc. to use at home and with the childminder.
9. How does the childminder assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation ?
- A questionnaire is given to parents to complete on an annual basis and this will capture how the childminder meets the needs of individual children.
- An annual audit to assess SEN provision/ accessibility.
10. What should I do if I am considering registering for a place with this childminder ?
- Ring initially to establish if and when a place is available
- Make an appointment to visit with your child.
11. What arrangements does the childminder have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints ?
- A complaints procedure which will encourage you to discuss any concerns with the child minder initially but with opportunity to complain to Ofsted if the situation cannot be resolved.
