Shirley Pearce - independent occupational therapist, dementia trainer and coach

Following guidance from the Government with regard to the coronavirus (COVID-19), before attending an activity, group, drop in, course or event listed on our directory please contact the organisation who is running the service to ensure it is still taking place.

I am an independent occupational therapist, dementia trainer, coach and troubleshooter with experience of working with older people with dementia in residential and day care, memory clinics and the community.

I use a counter-intuitive approach that focuses entirely on the well-being of the individual. I liaise with family carers and/or care professionals/agencies and undertake 1:1 care as necessary to identify issues with communication, care, environment, behaviour, daily living activities etc, and seek solutions to support well-being.

I founded Understanding Dementia, registered charity number 238331, to provide training in my approach to careworkers, health & social care professionals and family carers throughout Berkshire.
