Lisa Harrison

I have children of my own, a daughter age 13 and a 10 year old daughter. I have been a childminder for 24 years. I have worked in a nursery as a qualified Nursery Practitioner in a local Day Nursery for 2 to 3 year olds prior to childminding.

I feel it is important that children enjoy themselves and I encourage them to play, make friends and have fun while learning.

I have plenty of outdoor toys and there are nice local parks for them to play in. We attend local toddler groups and the library and the children are encouraged to mix with other children to encourage their social skills. There are plenty of toys, books, puzzles, dolls house, musical instruments, action man and accessories, dolls and prams, Lego, Wii and so the list goes on!

Previously when I worked as a deputy play worker I achieved a distinction for my Diploma in Pre-School Practice. I have also worked in a crèche and a private nursery. I offer a babysitting service during the evenings and on weekends.

I have an up to date certificate in First Aid. I attend regular Safeguarding courses (Child protection) , Autism courses, plus I now have a Diploma in Child Psychology and an LSA qualification Level 3. I do these courses to ensure my knowledge is current.

I understand the importance of a child’s need to feel safe, secure, and happy and will aim to do just that. I have a strict no smoking policy. I live just behind Hawkedon Primary School. My recent OFSTED inspection was in July 2017and I achieved "Good".

Additional Information

I have 2 daughters aged 14 and 10. I offer fun, secure, happy, home from home childcare. Some of the children in my care have been with me for a long time as they and their parents are very happy and settled and it shows as they are all comfortable in their surroundings. I have a close, fun and friendly relationship with all of them.

During the day I take the children to toddler groups where they are able to form friendships. play and develop their social skills. I encourage them to take part in craft activities such as drawing, sticking, messy play, water/sand activities and plenty of outdoor fun in the parks and woods.

I have alot of experience with very young babies and I take alot of care and time to help children settle as I understand how it can be quite hard for some to get used to new surroundings and faces. I encourage settling in sessions as this helps the child and also parents to feel happy when they come to me.

I can offer you past and current references.
