The Autism Group - Fusion Club for young people aged 14 - 25 (Berkshire College of Agriculture)

Description

The Autism Group offers special interest groups for young people aged 14 to 25 who are on the autism spectrum.

Our Fusion Club, for 14-25 year olds, provides a wide range of activities popular with young people on the autism spectrum in a supportive environment . Activities include multi-player console gaming, trading card games, Dungeons and Dragons, Lego, board games etc.

All our clubs are aimed at young people of mainstream ability but who need support in their social understanding.

When is it On/Open ?

Saturday afternoons 2pm to 4.30pm.

Every four weeks and continuing. Clubs will not operate over the Christmas period but usually run throughout all other school holidays.

We offer an identical club which operates in central Maidenhead, on the alternate fortnight to this club.

Eligibility Criteria

For ages 14 to 25. A diagnosis of an autism spectrum condition or social communication disorder following an assessment for autism.

Booking and Registration Notes

We require an application form and home visit to be completed in conjunction with parent and young person before they attend so that we can ensure we understand any support needs. It also enables the young person to meet a member of staff before attending for the first time to reduce any possible anxiety. The home visit may be done virtually during the pandemic.

We follow safe recruitment practice. All staff are DBS checked. All staff including volunteers have had autism and safeguarding training. All our Clubs are Covid secure.

We have policies and procedures in place for safeguarding, health and safety, data protection, confidentiality.
