COVID-19 Update
Camp Mohawk remains open to families and school groups (single bubbles) during the pandemic. We have a Priority List of families who are most in need of support during this time - these families have priority for spaces and during lockdowns or Tier 4 resrictions we will be open only to families on the Priority List. Any family is welcome to request addition to the Priority List - please contact us to discuss your circumstances.

Description
Camp Mohawk is a multi-functional day centre for children with special needs, set in 5 acres of beautiful countryside, just outside Wargrave, Berkshire. Throughout the year the centre provides a range of activities, facilities and natural space to encourage children with a variety of special needs to play, socialise and learn in a secure and caring environment.
Our vision is for children and young people with special needs arising from physical or developmental disability to receive the support necessary to realise their full potential as valued individuals, with their disability being openly understood, accepted and provided for without prejudice or judgement.
Camp Mohawk provides a 'safe haven' with both indoor and outdoor facilities where children and young people with special needs and their families can come to relax, play, develop social skills and build their self-confidence in a positive and uplifting environment that accepts and welcomes them all.
We provide the children and young people with stimulating workshops, sensory and social activities that are led by experienced enthusiastic staff and carefully designed to address the common developmental requirements of children with special needs.
We also provide their families with some short term respite, a support network and friendly advice. Both our centre and approach works sympathetically with the challenging behaviour that often accompanies disability in young people. We provide this support for families in all school holidays except Christmas, plus some evenings and weekends, and also liaise locally with special needs schools and support groups.
Families need to register to use our services. Facilities include soft play and sensory rooms, various activity rooms, full disabled bathroom facilities including mobile hoist, outdoor adventure play, swings, sensory garden, imaginative play spaces, picnic areas, and an outdoor, heated pool (open May to September).
Camp Mohawk is open to families, groups and schools throughout the year. Please make contact before planning a visit.
Short Breaks
Camp Mohawk's Short Breaks programme is specifically for children and young people, aged 8 to 25, with a diagnosis of High Functioning Autism / Asperger's Syndrome. This programme provides activities through after school clubs and also during school holidays. A needs assessment will be carried out by Camp Mohawk staff to ensure the programme is suitable for a child or young person. Referral can be made directly by families, or via other professional services. For more information regarding Short Breaks, please contact Donna Levy donna.levy@campmohawk.org.uk for details.
