Local Offer - Support available for children and young people with additional needs

Description

I am an enthusiastic childminder who likes to constantly update my setting and adapt it accordingly to ensure I can offer outstanding quality childcare always. I have worked with children for 22 years in various roles taking my experience from strength to strength.

I offer a group setting for your child/children and have qualified childcare assistants working with me which i feel is extremely benificial for all involved.

I am situated at brook farm in Barkham. Being a farm I can offer vast space for your child to enjoy. All safe and secure and enticing you and your children. I spend lots of time preparing my setting to be inviting for all the children when they attend. I have very large playrooms which are decorated with children's artwork, pictures, photographs of outings and posters. There filled with toys and activities to enhance your child's experience and childcare hours with me. There are lots for all ages for both enjoyment and education. Along with practitioners experience and enthusiasm your child is sure to experience supportive fun and nurturing childcare in there early years.

Outside I have a large garden thoughtfully set out with an array of enticing activities for all children to explore and enjoy. There are areas to make dens, climbing frames for the adventurous and a large sandpit which seems to be everyone's favourite. There is ball game activities, an area for pedal trikes and a nice grass lawn to enjoy. I also have  log cabins providing two extra playrooms.

My aim is for children to want to be excited to come here and enjoy the fun flexible exciting enhancing childcare that we can offer.

My SEND policy

In my setting I may help to identify children with additional needs. With my experience and training (regularly updated) to support this I know it is good practice to work in partnership with a child's parent/carer so we can freely liaise with each other. There are always visits where we get to know each other before a child attends my setting. This is a good time to talk through any concerns parents have. I will get to know the child and build up a relationship which would then allow me to assess a child and then plan to help the child in any way I can. Should they have any additional needs.

I have professional help within the local triage team if I need it too. This would support the family and help me. Through any additional needs plan parents/carers are always included at every level be it assessments, meetings, training and trackers on their individual child.

Activities are adapted to be easily accessible by all who attend my setting. I regularly make relevant changes through constant risk assessments. Ongoing assessment for each child with additional needs will help ensure progress is reported and documented for their parent/carer to see. These can be taken home at any point alongside a daily report so adults can see exactly what their child has achieved and experienced during their day at Jackie’s.

I can offer close supervision through working with a small group of children so I get to really know each individual child. If a child has additional needs this is very good for their individual learning plan and their observations, trackers and monitoring as knowing each individual child is critical for the progress and support for their individual needs.

My building is accessible with a wheelchair with ramps available if needed and wide doorways. With the bathroom being downstairs too that is also easily accessible.

To ensure an easy transition moving onto school for a child at my setting with additional needs I will do all I can to help. From liaising with school staff to including them in assessments to visits to my setting to get to know each child as I know it can be a difficult time.

Parents and any early years practitioners that I liaise with can give me feedback at any time which I will gladly receive. Parent whose children I look after also receive regular questionnaire from me so I can listen to their comments and make changes if needed.
