Complementary Services Berkshire - Increasing Independence Programme
Welcome to Norwood’s Increasing Independence for Adults with Learning Disabilities Programme. This project is run with support from Wokingham Borough Council.
The programme offers life skills courses for all abilities that will enable learners to gain confidence and increase their independence. Courses run for 28 weeks throughout the year during term time.
Complementary Services courses will support people to:
- develop and maintain foundation skills – Maths, English and ICT
- improve communication and social skills
- increase confidence and self-esteem
- improve self-awareness and awareness of others
- improve hand-to-eye co-ordination
- increase knowledge of personal health and wellbeing
- improve ability to work as part of a group
- increase ability to follow instructions and improve problem-solving skills
- develop and maintain practical living skills
- make choices and encourage independence
- develop understanding of health and safety
- learn about and practice British values
