Local Offer

Local Offer - Support available for children and young people with additional needs

Local Offer Description

Local Offer last reviewed 18/04/2018

1. How does the childminder identify children with additional needs or SEND ?

If a parent identifies their child may have an additional need we will work together to get them assess and get any necessary help. It is a partnership and must always work together.

If I were to identify a child as possibly having an additional need I would talk to the parents first and then take the necessary steps By including the early years team, Childrens centres etc.

2. How will I be informed / included about the ways in which my child is being supported ?

I will include parents in every step as it's always about working together and supporting each other.

3. How will the childminder adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child?s needs ?

I plan for each child and assess their needs.

4. What additional support does the childminder provide for children with additional needs or SEND ?

I attend as much training as possible both on line and also in person. For example I attended a behaviour training session put on by the council.

5. How will the childminder monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this ?

I am constantly observing each child, making notes, taking photos and lining to the EYFS. I complete 2 year old progress checks and also work in partnership with any other settings they attend. I send their folders home regularly for parents and parents are invited anytime to look at their child's file.

6. How does the childminder ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips ?

I would risk assess the trip and ensure activities are inclusive for everyone (adapting slightly if necessary).

7. How accessible is the childminder?s home for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users ?

I'm afraid I am not wheelchair accessible. However I am happy to assist children if they have mobility issues.

8. How will the childminder contribute to my child?s transition to a new setting or school ?

I will always work in partnership with other settings to ensure a child has a smooth transition. Settings are welcome to visit my setting and I am happy to visit their setting.

9. How does the childminder assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation ?

I am always available for parents to talk to me either by email, text or phone call or in person.

10. What should I do if I am considering registering for a place with this childminder ?

Please contact me either by email or phone.

11. What arrangements does the childminder have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints ?

I have a complaints procedure as part of my policy and procedures.
