  1. 2023-24 Autumn/Winter Seasonal Covid-19 Vaccination programme

The programme began in September 2023. People eligible for a seasonal Covid vaccine are:

    • residents in a care home for older adults
    • all adults aged 65 years and over
    • anyone aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group*
    • frontline health and social care workers
    • anyone aged 12 to 64 years who are household contacts* of people with immunosuppression
    • anyone aged 16 to 64 years who are carers*, and staff working in care homes for older adults

    * as defined in Tables 3 and 4 of Chapter 14a of the Green Book

Care home residents and immunosuppressed people will be the first to receive their vaccines.

From 18 September 2023, the NHS will start to invite people in priority order of risk.  Those eligible will be able to book an appointment on the National Booking System. You will be able to access the community pharmacies across Wokingham Borough offering the seasonal Covid vaccinations.

Outside of the Seasonal Covid-19 Vaccinations programme

Children aged 6 months to 4 years old who are at increased risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19 can get a first and second COVID-19 vaccine. Eligible children will be invited by NHS services, for example through their GP practice, to come forward for their vaccination.

If you develop a new health condition or start treatment that severely weakens your immune system, you may need an additional vaccine. A healthcare specialist will assess whether you need an additional vaccine, and make a referral and advise on the best timing for vaccination around your planned treatment. Speak to your specialist for more information.

    Flu vaccine

To help yourself stay well in winter, you should also get the flu vaccine. See the NHS website for more details.
