Living with autism

Local support groups

There are many groups in Wokingham and Berkshire offering a range of services and activities for people with autism.

Wokingham, Bracknell and district Mencap, and ASD Family Help arrange activities for adults on the autistic spectrum.

I'm worried about my needs assessment

If you need help during your assessment and you don’t have anyone else to represent you, you can arrange for someone to help you and speak on your behalf. This is known as an advocate. An advocate will also help you understand your options and make decisions about your care and support. All advocates receive autism training.

Visit our advocacy page for more information and to find advocacy services.

I want help getting a job

the Optalis employment service provides a friendly and confidential employment support service. All staff have received autism training. They can provide you with specialist support if you are looking for a job. They also provide support to the employers.

Adviza also provide help and support with finding a job.

What support can my family get?

ASD Family Help offers provide and support to families.

There are also a wide range of services available in our services directory to help your family and your carers (if you have them).

What we're doing to help

We are currently working on ways to make sure that the needs of people on the autistic spectrum are carefully considered and staff have training to understand autism and how it affects people.

We are working together with the Action4Autism Wokingham Adult Partnership Board. The partnership board includes people with autism, family carers and statutory and voluntary organisations.
